Bob Benson

Bob has over 35 years of domestic and international leadership experience in the retained executive search industry. That experience includes an active search practice serving a wide range of clients in various industries both in the United States and during his six years in Europe. That international connection has remained important as a third of his current consulting practice is with European clients.

 

His career began with Spencer Stuart where he had a series of increasingly responsible management and practice roles, including as Managing Partner of the New York Office. He was always active in cross-border client and practice activities eventually as Co-Leader of the Firm’s Global Industrial Practice. He served as Chair of the Partner Finance Committee and as a main Board Member for three years.

 

After leaving Spencer Stuart, Bob served as Chair of Boardroom Consultants and Slayton Search Partners, where he led the successful transition of leadership from father to son. During his tenure he transformed the Firm from a highly focused regional firm into a multi-disciplinary firm with a national scope. During his time at Slayton, the Firm was the fastest growing search group in the US.

 

Fifteen years ago, Bob refocused his activities on assisting small- to medium-sized retained executive search reach their potential. Today he provides counsel to a wide range of firms helping them to clarify their strategy, brand, messaging, professional practices, and leadership skills. His strength is in helping firms drive a strong go-to-market presence while growing at above market rates and profitably.

 

Bob’s average client has been with him for seven years and many have become good friends. He remains passionate about the industry and is committed to representing the highest standards both professionally and personally.
